After a long association with King’s High School both as a teacher and as a parent, that dates back 26 years, Mrs Charlotte Merriman leaves us at the end of this year.
Charlotte has been a fixture in the Mathematics Department for the last JO years, passionate about her subject, and an enthusiastic and gifted teacher. Her association with 9Mm has been one of the success stories at King’s over the last decade. As Mr Donald put it, “The 9Mm boys always got more than just a Maths teacher.”
Charlotte has contributed much to the school that goes beyond teaching. She has been the mum of four outstanding pupils-Luke, Dux, and New Zealand’s Top Scholar, Tony, Paul, Proxime Accesit, and Grant. Charlotte’s daughter even attended King’s in Yr 12 to study Classics here while a pupil at Queens High School.
Charlotte has also been a PTSA member a BOT member, a Special Needs teacher and even school librarian. “It’s been more than a job; it’s been a way of life,” Charlotte admitted today. When quizzed on what she would miss most, Charlotte unhesitatingly replied “The boys.”
Next year, Charlotte hopes to pursue more of her own interests but will also be back at King’s in a voluntary capacity working for the Maths Department on the current numeracy project.
