PARSONS, Andy
1990 – 2004
Although a master craftsman cabinet marker by trade Andy Parsons turned down management promotion in that area, “I have always had a hankering to teach and since getting married it offered me a more sympathetic lifestyle for a family man.”
So in 1987 Andy left Modern Upholstery where he had been for eight years and entered Dunedin Teachers College as a mature age student. He came to King’s on teaching section and was obviously impressed, “King’s had the feeling of a caring environment that fostered an atmosphere conducive to inspiring and creating success in its pupils.” This impression must have stuck for after a year at Nayland College near Nelson Andy applied for a vacant position at King’s. Left to become HOD Technology at Logan Park High School
