2021 Drama
We got the year off to a cracker start with Jamie Honey, a Y13 student last year, gaining an Outstanding Scholarship for
Drama, putting him second in New Zealand. What a terrific result and a fine legacy to maintain, following in the footsteps
of other Scholarship Drama students like Max Beal, who came first in Scholarship Drama in NZ in 2017. Jamie has gone
on to study Theatre, Film and Politics at Victoria University of Wellington this year and is considering trying out for Toi
Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School at the end of the year. Max is becoming a well-known performance personality
around Dunedin, performing a lead role this year in That Bloody Woman.

Acafellas attracts students from all year levels to form a dynamic singing ensemble. It is an auditioned choir for boys ‘who really take singing seriously’. Under the directorship of Kris White and Jo Dryden, Acafellas works towards the annual ‘Big Sing’ competition for regional and national choirs.  This year the choir went to the Regional qualifications held in Dunedin.  They sang very well and qualified to go to the South Island Finals in Timaru. Unfortunately these were cancelled due to Covid 19 restrictions.
