1950: Peter Rawson Smart (Attended King’s High School from 1946 to 1950)
Peter Was Head Prefect at the School in 1950 After leaving university Peter held teaching positions at Gore High School, Shirley Boys High School and Riccarton High School. He wrote several school English textbooks including the “Lets Learn English” series, “Response to Language”, “Process and Product”, “Criticism is Response” and “Reading is Thinking” … On retiring from teaching he became editor of `Landfall’ New Zealand’s foremost literary magazine. – a position he held from 1978 to 1981 the year he died. |

1951: Charles Robb Webster, . (Attended King’s High School from 1946 to 1951)
Gained his Higher School Certificate and a Mining Bursary. He was winner of the Dunedin Shakespeare Club’s prize for Shakespeare Reading and the Parents’ Association Prize for Excellence in VIA. |

1952: Hilliker, Roger William
Dr Rodger William Hilliker, Temuka: M.B., Ch.B 1959 (University of NZ). Dr Hilliker first arrived in South Canterbury as a medical student in 1957 and spent a couple of years at Timaru Hospital before moving to a Temuka practice in 1961. He retired in 2010. He be came a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services as a general practitioner in 2011. He became invested as a Commander of the Order of St John, May 2020

1955: Brian James Austin,
At King’s High School 1951 – 1955 While at school in 1955 Brian was awarded a University National Scholarship He completed a BSc in 1959 and was a winner of a Senior Scholarship in Science (University of New Zealand) and a Beverly Scholarship (University of Otago) Brian received a Master of Science First Class honours in Mathematics at the University of Otago. He also won the Robert Jack Prize for Mathematics. On receiving the Shirtcliffe Fellowship from the University of New Zealand Brian spent time studying at the Oxford University. |

1956:
James, Arthur Eric Arthur attended King’s High School from 1952 to 1956. He studied Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury and graduated with a B.E. [Civil in 1961] In 1966 he gained his M.N.Z.I.E. registration. He worked in the Dunedin City Engineer’s Department until his retirement. Arthur died on the 1st of July 2012. |
